Pretty funny

Pretty nice movie you made here. I've never played the game but every time I see something about it I really want to rent it. One of these days I'll have to do that.

The artwork in this was fantastic. Everything from the characters to the backgrounds was beautiful and very detailed! You never let it slack either, so every frame was great to look at. Unfortunately this made your animation suffer. Too many tweens going on for my liking, but I suppose if you are going to create amazing art work something has to suffer. Next time try to find the right balance of both to make your visuals even more spectacular.

The parody part of this movie was actually very funny and very true to the questions raised in the game(according to what I've read). The ending in particular was very funny. Nice job on this aspect of the movie.

Overall this movie was very well done. Just work on animation next time to get even better.

I will try. :3

Thanks.

Meh..same old shit

For a Twilight parody...it was alright. Though I can only base this off of other Twilight parodies since I refuse to watch the movie, which begs an interesting question; how many authors of Twilight parodies actually saw the movie or read the books? I ask this because it appears that every parody is starting to become the same. Yours is no exception.

Everything that was made fun of in this movie was made fun of before. The only way to stand out is with the presentation, which was sub-par in this movie. The art and animation was too simplistic to stand out so perhaps the dialogue can save your movie. In some ways it does and in others it doesn't. The voice acting was actually the best part of this movie. I think you represented the characters and the absurdity of the Twilight concept very well by the way the characters were voiced. For that I give you credit.

The final dick-sucking scene was, well, I'm not sure exactly how to put it, but was kind of funny. The ending line was the best part of this entire movie.

Story good, animation lacking

The story and music were pretty good in this animation. It felt like one of those cutesy fairy tale type of things but with a more mature twist on it. I don't know how to describe it but I did indeed like it.

The artwork was alright as well. It fit the tone of the story and it was very colorful and fun to look at. As stand-alone art it was pretty good. However when you tried to mix it with the simplistic animation it brought everything down. I realize more of the focus was on the story in this movie, but that doesn't mean the animation had to be as simple as it was. If you plan on making more of these I would put more animation into it. It doesn't have to be the greatest animation, but more of it would really enhance the stories you want to tell.

Overall a nice story with animation that left much to be desired.
3/5

Alrighty then. I'm gonna add more animation in the next episode, it's already written...
Thanks!

Spectacular Work!

This was a very different animation than most of the content on Newgrounds, particularly because it was focused more on creating a mood than actual art or animation. However, as you've proven, this is not always a bad thing. It can actually turn out quite nicely.

Lets get this out of the way first: art and animation. The art was very simple but it was very good as well. The contrasting and always "confused" black and white lines helped create a dark and dramatic mood that fit within the theme of this movie. It wasn't the most beautiful thing to look at, but it worked for what this movie was trying to accomplish. The animation was extremely simple and very choppy, usually a bad thing. However, just with the art it worked well for the tone of the movie. So overall, art and animation were not this movie's strong points.

The strong points of this movie were everything else. The music and the way the scenes were portrayed helped create the dark and dramatic tone you were going for, which worked out fantastically. The music in particular was my favorite aspect of this movie. You managed to match the music and the scenes very nicely together. For some reason, the music reminded me of the original Batman movie, but that's not a bad thing is it? :)

Overall this was an amazingly well done movie. I think it would work as a good advertisement to your friends play.

thanks for the detailed review, I was showing this to a friend of mine the other day and he said he was expecting Batman to appear and save the day. :)

Really nice, though improvements needed

This was a pretty good piece of work. It had a story, a nice cast of characters, and a lot of other positive aspects that made this a joy to watch. However, some polishing could be done.

The artwork and animation was very nice. The characters were drawn very well and moved cleanly, even in the frame by frame moments. The background artwork varied depending on the scene. It would be nice if they were more consistent with each other. You should also look at adding more frame by frame in your works. Usually animators who animate primarily with tweens can't animate using frame by frame very well, but you are an exception to the rule. I'd add more. The frame by frame of Bubla's shadow was very well done. The monkey wasn't bad either.

Audio wise the movie was average. The voice actors did a good job and the quality of that audio was on average very good. However you had limited sound effects in your movie, so some movements lacked when no sound went along with them. The sounds you had were usually good, but some were too short or seemed wrong for the animation they were accompanying. However, the paper crunch sound when Bubla's brochure was thrown away was great. Try to keep that quality with your work.

Overall this movie was very nice. Just work on some art and audio polishing and your next movie will be even better.

Good luck.

KevinButtchin responds:

Thanks. I plan on doing some frame by frame in the future. I still plan on the Bubla series to be tweened mostly, but I will definitely throw in some more fbf in it. Also i'll be sure to add more sound effects, I've also been bothered that there was silence at parts in the movie. I'm glad you liked my homemade paper crunching sound effect. :)

You get the idea.

You get how to animate using frame by frame. All you need to do is practice practice practice. Frame by frame is difficult and tedious work but is exponentially more rewarding than tweening.

I would also recommend improving your drawing skills. Animating your own artwork is an amazing feeling once you're finished working.

Make the sprite movies for now, I won't knock you for doing something you enjoy. Just keep up the practice making your own artwork move.

Karttibone responds:

Thx for your useful review. Such things really help. I'm glad there are some reasonable honest people out there.

Not bad..but sooo simple

This wasn't a bad music video. Not at all. The artwork was fine and everything fit with the music, but it was just too simple.

Im a bit biased towards fbf, which your movie had none of, but I'll try to be fair.

The tweening you put in was smooth and wasn't awkward, but it was so limiting for your movie. If you put in more fbf I think you would have been able to more freely express what this movie could have been. Though props on the smooth tweening.

Overall not a bad movie. A definite pass, but practice up those frame by frame skills. It can really help you be more expressive.

chesster415 responds:

Thanks, it was a lot easier to do it tweened, but the lipsyncing was fbf. I'm really more into programming games.

AWSOME!!!

That was a fantastic piece of work. Great job.

The artwork was great. Everything looked great. The animation however, was the part that shined. I loved how great the fbf was. Every motion was smooth and connected and was just great to look at. The tweening used was great too. It was used appropriatly and worked with the fbf instead of replacing it. The effects used for the fire and such were beautiful too.

My only complaint was with the audio. Im not sure if it was the mic you were using or if the effects you added to the voices hurt the quality, but it really took away from everything else that was so great about your movie. But that is my only complaint. Everything else was top notch.

Keep up the great work. Just fix your audio problems and then you'll have some really kick ass stuff. Awsome job!!!

VillainousTurtleSLC responds:

Yep, knew the audio was a problem. Tons of folks have said so. Not going to fix it but I understand your complaint. Thanks for the crit dirtshake man!

Meh...

Your drawings are great, but your animation needs a lot of work.

For one there was barely anthing moving. A few tweens in the beginning and the end but for most of the movie the characters didn't move at all. It made it boring to watch from a visual standpoint.

Your audio needs work too. The music was way louder thant he dialougue so I couldn't even tell if the voice acting was great or simply good. I think it was good, but the loud music took away from your character's conversations.

Overall these are some simple things to fix. I know this movie wasn't supposed to be visually fantastic, but there is no excuse for the audio quality. Work on these aspects and your next projects will be great. You'll actually be able to show off your drawings more when they start moving.

Good luck in the future.

rodstew2 responds:

Thanks for the review, I know they didn't really move, that's pretty much because of the time limit I had in class for the animation. But I recently turned the music down on the animation for make the voices easier to hear.

Very nice

Great idea for a movie, though not entirely original. I've heard the concept before, but the execution was brilliant.

The art was great. Very colorful without a lot of outlines. It was very easy on the eyes and stylish as well. The animation wasn't too shabby either.
The attacks is what made this movie for me. The different, and very nerdy, attack moves were just fun to watch because they were so corny. Creative attacks too. I laughed hard when bio dude sent out his HIV virus attack.

Other than that the only thing you could work on is your humor. Even though it was a very small part of this movie the humor that you tried to do came off a little dry. Im speaking specifically of the desert joke. But it's so small for this movie it's not even that big of a deal. Just had to mention it.

So overall a very nice movie. Keep up the good work.

Blakant responds:

Yeah, ur right... I was under pressure wen Im writting the script if Im not mistaken... It's the Exam Week that time, lol
Well, ur review r rlly helpful, I try to improve my humor without hurting other ppl's feeling & being clean, cuz that is my aim for all my project, be clean as possible... :)
