".Hyenas don't appear in Africa's fossil record until 14 million years ago, leading Hyenas to be used in Western African folk tales to represent unwanted urbanization of indigenous African cultures by foreign invaders on the ivory coast." - - - - - wut

Very informative. I actually learned something. Sucks for those female Hyenas though. In all seriousness though, since I can't really rate the art and animation on this thing, I'll comment on the narration, which was funny as hell. It had that nice mix of information with fast paced humor thrown in and strange, but funny, transitions. I literally laughed out loud when the above social commentary was thrown in randomly, followed by, "fuck this cat shit".

JazLyte responds:

Yeah, it was for class on an extremely harsh time budget, so the animation's HIGHLY economy lol there's no hiding that. I had to make a quick presentation on the evolutionary history of my favorite animal using my major, thought I'd leave it here and see what happens. Glad you enjoyed it my brutha :3

Man that was twisted. Twisted as fuck. Remind me to never to buy street art from a perverted goat-man hybrid creature with spikes growing out of his eyes (nostrils ok!) regardless of how well they're animated.

What's more twisted though...is that this fucker is still under judgement after 14 fucking hours. I'm voting again to get this passed.

JazLyte responds:

Mehhhttt <3 Twisted is a word I've been getting alot lately, cool with that :3 Yeah, NG's pretty different now. They've completely isolated the ones under judgment from the other movies, so it's a much more savage, rigorous process to get your flicks in. Probably the point, but hell, I'm just along for the rriiiiide baaaabeh regardless.

OMG OMG, OH MY FUCKING GOD

I should not have been laughing at this, but I did anyways. XD

Animation-wise it was great! The fight scene was...well...short but sweet. The impact of the wrench actually felt real with the combination of animation, vcam, and great sound effects.
The humor was funny too. Just the fact that it had you voicing over the character with some weird ass shit going on was enough to get a few laughs, especially when the damn baby came on screen.

Good shit!

JazLyte responds:

Thanks broham. You know you wanted to laugh B)

WOAH

VERY nice. The art was very good and the animation was even better! The character animation was very smooth and believable and when mixed with the camera and other animation it was great. The contrast in style between the background pieces and the characters worked very well for this movie. the music even suited it well too.

My only minor complaint is about the first close up shot of the bird. It didn't look like a bird, but more like a man-bird hybrid thing. But that's just me being nitpicky.

AWESOME JOB! I can't wait to see more of your stuff in this style!

RiverJordan responds:

As i went through making this, i learned how to draw birds better and better...but they're still not very good. Bird drawings are the bane of my existence XD

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!!!

I laughed, I cried, I was disturbed out of my mind. They shouldn't allow you to put such disturbing material on the internet. This is serious business people.

What made you submit this?

JazLyte responds:

lol I would've been happy if you just cried. i just make spam to blow off steam while I'm working on my real shit that takes about 6+ months

Not a bad demo reel

I suspect you made this to try to get clients and get into art school right? RIGHT??? That or you're very VERY bored. Either way I like the music you put with it. It gives it a very Adult Swim / Cowboy BeBop feel to it, and for some reason that really fits your style. Keep it up.

The animation itself (not the video translation) in some areas was a bit choppy or too...repetitive. You criticize DBZ a lot for having very repetitive fight scene animations and in some areas you've done exactly what they do. Animate a few frames and press repeat. It's not bad for background shots, but when you just pan the camera so we can see it 20 times it become very noticeable.

Just some food for thought.

JazLyte responds:

Yezzziiirrr, this is indeed for potential clients.

I expected worse

I expected an intense love scene between you and PaperBat or something...I need to get my mind out of the gutter. For that you lost a point.

Still, I liked the ambiance you set up for the joke. You could have easily turned this into a real love scene for a more serious movie. So nice job on that.

Otherwise, a nice joke. Though that's not how I spent my Valentines Day... heh heh

JazLyte responds:

yes, well we all know how you and joel spent valentines day :3

Very nice

I loved this. If it wasn't for the Madness style characters I would have thought this was your own little series. The designs were great. A nice variation of the Madness style. Though your backgrounds and non-organic artwork was amazing. I loved the space ships and the station. They were very clean and great to watch. The 3d effects were amazing as well.

I would have liked to see more animation, but I can understand how time constraints can limit that sort of thing. I hope you make a sequel someday, even if it isn't for Madness Day 2010.

Great work!

DutchinLive responds:

I'll definitely be making something like this in the future, I'll make a sequel of this for Madness Day 2010, but I'm going to start on a sci-fi series as we speak.

Sweet

This was an awesome animation! I don't know what inconsistencies you were talking about because I didn't notice any.

Your art was simple but your animation made my jaw drop! Not only was the animation smooth but you animated every little movement Captain Glacaitor made. The best example of this was the beginning speech. The simple bobs and weaves he made gave this character an entire new dimension of life. Very well done.
I also commend you on your camera work and tweening animation. I could tell where it was, but you used it in a way that blended with the fbf.

Overall very well done. I can't really find any flaws with this right now, so I guess I'll just tell you to improve on your artwork.

Again, kick ass!!!

SuperFakeFilms responds:

wow, thanks.

I was talking about line quality, and the jitter of the brushtool linework when I mentioned inconsistencies.

also the lines were really thick

ZombiePimp???

Your style reminds me so much of ZombiePimp's work its not even funny. Don't take that as an insult though, because this was fantastic work!

The art was very simple. Character designs were simple, no shading, simple backgrounds, but I can see this was done so you could focus on animation. That was a good choice, as your animation is very well done. I have a lot of respect for anyone that does primarily frame-by-frame and you did it very well. Most things were smooth, but even when they weren't it somehow fit with the overall style. Great work.

The audio and effects used were great as well. I like how you didn't rely on flashy effects but used them as a special touch. Just as they should be and very nice. The music choice was fantastic and the touches of audio gave an added flair.

Overall this was a very nice movie. You have a nice style and it honestly reminds me of good anime. Keep up the great work!

Hulalaoo responds:

LOL, zombiepimp and me have 2 styles diferent, is how say, water and oil, the work of make aniamtion frame by frame is only for artist with other lvl
